It was an unfortunate result for the Whitecaps last time out.
A 1-0 loss to the Houston Dynamo means the club drops from first to second place in the Western Conference, but they do have a game in hand and are behind by a single point.
Jesper Sørensen's side has had a rough August, currently holding a 1-2-3 record across MLS and Leagues Cup action, so tomorrow is the perfect chance to turn their misfortune around.
How FC Dallas enters this match
It's been a good run for FC Dallas, who have slowly been climbing up the table.
They secured a 4-3 win at America First Field against Real Salt Lake in their most recent outing, which has them currently sitting in fifth place, tied with fourth-place San Jose.
Eric Quill's side is having a nice month, holding a 4-1-1 record through MLS and Leagues Cup action, so they will be feeling good about taking three points away from home, considering they are the best Western Conference side on the road.
Head-to-head
This will be the second meeting of the season, as the Whitecaps won the reverse fixture at Toyota Stadium by a 3-2 scoreline, with the now-departed Sebastian Berhalter scoring a brace in that game.
In the 36 games between these two sides, the series is level at thirteen wins apiece and ten draws.
Just like the game against Houston, if a winner is decided in 90 minutes tomorrow, they will take the series lead until either next season or a potential playoff series.
Players to watch
24-year-old Canadian defender Ralph Priso will be tasked with stopping the dangerous FC Dallas attack. He's been having a stellar season and was unlucky to miss out on Canada's FIFA World Cup roster. He's only played nine games in this MLS season due to a hamstring injury back in March and later another hamstring injury sustained in the Canadian Men's National Team training camp in June. Priso has scored for the 'Caps this season and has shown some excellent passing skills. Overall, he's scored twice for Vancouver, with his first coming against FC Dallas in Game Two of last season's first-round series between these two sides. Can Priso provide some stability for Vancouver's defence tomorrow against a very good attack?
Part of that dangerous Dallas attack is 26-year-old Santiago Moreno, who provides good ball progression and rapid speed. Currently on loan from Brazilian giants Fluminense FC, the Colombian international has recorded two goals and two assists in 15 games, with nine of those as a starter. He added a further goal and assist in three Leagues Cup matches, as Moreno is looking to prove something tomorrow and provide service to the dangerous Petar Musa.
Availability
For Vancouver, Kenji Cabrera, Aleksa Cvetković, Belal Halbouni, Kwasi Poku, and Ranko Veselinović will not feature tomorrow. Brian White is available after recovering from a hamstring tightness injury, while new signing Sebastián Ramírez could make his Whitecaps debut tomorrow night.
For Dallas, Daniel and Anderson Julio will not feature tomorrow.
